The main altar is located in the presbytery, an area bounded by a high perimeter podium that, according to the configuration of the openings, housed the wooden choir stalls.

On the southern front of the presbytery is an entrance blocked by the lava flow, which still today presents the stones placed by the people of Misterbianco in 1669, in a desperate attempt to prevent the lava from entering the church.

In continuity with the steps belonging to this entrance, there are very deteriorated steps that led to the pulpit, presumably made of wood.
